I work right near Double Decker, so my boss offered to take me to lunch one day and we ventured in here.  Straight out, the place looks like its a part of the hotel, its a little weird!  You order downstairs but you can sit upstairs (where they bring your meal) and eat in peace!  Hands down, this place has an amazing veggie burger!  The home-made chips are really great and the onion rings round out the meal making one incredible burger joint!  I am a stickler on veggie burgers and home-made chips but these were super good and I would go back in a heartbeat!  Not expensive, quick and easy!  I love it and so should you!

Love the burgers.  There are very few burger joints where you can tell them how well-done or rare you want your burger.  This is one and they actually fix it the way you ask!

Love the garlic fries, but don't eat them inside your home or the whole place smells like garlic for 3 days.

Not my favorite places for salad.  Fixin's are fresh but no garnish.  My ceaser salad had no croutons. or parmesan cheese. . .they left out the  ceaser part of the salad.

Allo Guv'nor!

Now wouldn't it make sense if they painted the building red to make it look like a real Double Decker bus? They could paint headlights and little signs that say "Leicester Square" or "Tower of London". Oh and they could get a bunch of those movable trolls from the "It's a Small World" ride in Disneyland, the ones dressed like royal guards that do high kicks in unison, and put them outside the windows. Yeah I like that...and then they could paint George Michael propositioning a cop at a urinal. Oh wait, that was in LA, wasn't it?...but hey, they could play "Rule Brittania!" on a loudspeaker. Is it a wonder to you that I'm not on HGTV Design Star?

Like many others, I always thought the compact space adjoining the Days Inn was a bit eccentric to put in any eatery beyond a motel coffee shop. Previously, it was the pricier Zoya, and I think it was a sushi place before that. Now it's Double Decker Burgers, which seems like a more appropriate match since it is two floors and kinda shaped like a burger. It's just too bad that it's on Grove away from the heart of Hayes Valley since it's the type of place that would probably attract spontaneous foot traffic.

I had their signature $7.95 Double Decker Burger, and it was quite good if a bit sloppy (see my photo). They use Niman Ranch beef, but nowadays, who doesn't?...and they melt both American and Swiss cheese on it. Its most direct comparison point is Pearl's, and it even comes in the same red baskets. They have chicken and veggie options as well, and buffalo wings is their other specialty. French fries come separately, and you can get a small basket for $3 - good homemade variety and not too oily (see my photo). There are five small tables on the ground floor and more seating upstairs where you get a panoramic view of...uh, the Grove and Gough intersection. Yeah, how pretty...uh-huh.

FOOD - 4 stars...good burger and a better deal than Flipper's if you want a straight-up burger without the toppings
AMBIANCE - 3 stars...a squeeze in there
SERVICE - 4 stars...very friendly in there though it seems a mite overstaffed even on a Pride Saturday
TOTAL - 4 stars... give it a try...I'd like to see this one succeed

YES! another lovely burger joint. and not only that, draft beer to boot! a very ubiquitous location yet, hmmm... who cares?! my burger was juicy and tasty (i got a double decker) and my friend's was similarly moist with a tinge of pink --- nice! our onion rings?! deliciously fresh and fried and crispy. i predict a return to try the buffalo style wings -- i think it was buffalo style. anyway, draft beers! not that great a selection but not your typical bud and bud light fare either so wheeeee! Oh, and can you say in-house hand ground Niman Ranch beef? mooooo!

update:
on a whim, I went with a friend to check out DD's happy hour (half price sides, pints and dozen wings) and whooo-hooo! it was another delectably delightful experience. i mean, c'mon, a mere $1.48 + tax, tip for a pint of suds? whoa, nelly! and their garlic fries I'm happy to say are sprinkled with REAL CHOPPED GARLIC. all my friends know I've got a weakness for the pungent stinkin' rose so them fries won me over. so did my basket of inferno chicken wings that came with celery sticks and a deliciously chunky blue cheese dressing. good job double d! i'ma comin' back agin sometime soon-ish. yay!

Oh my God.

You can smell double decker from like a block away.  We parked on Gough and with the draft it smelled like french fries in the air!

We walked in a little confused.  Then we ordered us 2 all you can eats, $11.95 a person!  Only on Wednesday's though, from 4-8.  They also have happy hour from 3-6pm on draft beers and some other stuff.

Three options: mild, hot, and inferno.  We got a basket of mild and a basket of hot.  It came with celery sticks and blue cheese.  We also grabbed a couple of beers since the beer tends to kill the spicyness.

We sat up stairs, nothing special..just like a hole in the wall diner type place.  They had a flat screen showing CNN I think.  When our food was brought to us, my eyes just kind went o_O basket of wings swimming in red.  The hot was SO hot!  Made my lips fcking burn.  He said the hot was too hot for him, but I made him eat some anyways bc there was no way I could finish it myself.  One of the workers came upstairs to take more orders, I guess a lot of people had all you can eat.  We ordered another basket of mild and another basket of hot.  We struggled through each of the 2nd baskets, so we got another beer.

Damn it was so worth the trip across town.  Probably the best buffalo wings I've had in a long time.  They're fried just right and then drenched in sauce, which is a little tangy and a little sour.  Would def come here again.

Tonight I discovered two things about myself.  The first thing I had already known somewhat, but the second thing surprised me.  I'll elaborate more in just a bit.

I stopped by Double Decker tonight.  I have seen this little restaurant in passing, and I always assumed it was the motel restaurant of the Days Inn located next door.  That's not the case at all, and thanks to Yelp and some very positive reviews I decided I wanted to try the burger here.

I ordered the Double Decker Burger and a small side of French Fries.  There's a photo of the burger posted by the restaurant in the photo section on Yelp, and I recalled it looked delicious.  It turns out that burger looks exactly like it did in that photo.  Two beef patties (they use Niman Ranch beef here), pickle slices, a lettuce leaf and both American and Swiss cheeses melted on top of the meat served in between a fresh seeded hamburger bun with just a slather of mayo on the bun.  Normally it comes with onions and tomatoes also, but I wasn't in an onion mood and asked to have it omitted.  Fresh tomato was cautiously left off due to the recent bad tomato episodes outside of California.  What'd I think?  It was a very good burger, and with each hot, juicy bite I could feel my arteries harden.  The fries were just a bit oily but excellent with a nice crispy exterior surrounding hot, meaty potato in the middle.

Discovery Number 1: There's an old Chinese saying that my parents use to use on me that loosely translates into, "The belly is full, but the eyes are not."  In other words, I'd be completely stuffed, but the sight of more food left me wanting more.  So there I was eating my burger as other patrons walked in to order Double Decker's Buffalo Wings.  I witnessed others enjoying these wings outside the restaurant, and I came to the conclusion that I had to try some wings too.  After I finished off my burger and fries I got up and ordered a half dozen Buffalo Wings.

The wings come in three degrees of heat - mild, hot and inferno.  Now I knew I couldn't handle really spicy foods, but I was certain I could handle something labeled simply as hot.

Discovery Number 2: I found out what a real wuss I am when it comes to eating Double Decker's "hot" Buffalo Wings because those wings left me sniffling and teary-eyed.  Dripping with a tangy, spicy sauce those wings were explosive.  I cried my way through the entire half dozen and happily enjoyed it.

Yes, I'll be back.  But the next time they see me here I'll take my wings on the mild side.

What's better you ask?  The burgers or the wings?  My opinion ... you can't go wrong with either choice!

I guess maybe I should have had wings instead of a burger, since that's what people seem so excited about, but I didn't. I had the California Burger, with swiss cheese and avocado.

Complaint #1: The whole burger tasted so much like nothing that I actually had to open it up and check if there were any condiments in place, much less the ones I had ordered. It was all there, just somehow magically rendered completely bland.

Complaint #2: The guy who took my order didn't ask me how I wanted it cooked. I didn't realize it until I was eating and the thing was cooked a bit beyond where I like it. I guess I could have volunteered the information if I'd thought of it, but I think it's standard for the order-taker to ask about that kind of thing.

Complaint #3: I'm getting tired of burger places where the food seems reasonably priced until you realize that the fries are going to be an extra 2 bucks. Come on! That should be included!

In conclusion, in the neighborhood, I'd rather go to Flippers, and if I don't mind traveling, I'd rather go to Pearl's or Burgermeister or tons of other places.

Holy crap!  Burger delivery??  I am *all* over that.

Turns out there's a reason most burger joints don't deliver:  Burgers don't deliver well.  Both the burger and the fries cool quickly, so even fast delivery doesn't get them to you before they're cold.  Mine were delivered in less than the promised 30 minutes, but yeah... they were cold.

However, I can tell that this would have been a great burger and fries, had I actually left the house and gone to the restaurent.  So either get your burgers in person, or know that when you absolutely must have burgers delivered, they just won't be all that a burger should be.

Yelp HQ is packing up and moving down the street, so Nish the wing-master decided to order us all wings to celebrate our last day in 650 Mission. I had my doubts about finding a place that would deliver the goods to our downtown digs, but luckily, Double Decker came through!

Two cartons showed up, one mild and one spicy, along with all the fixins, including blue cheese, ranch and even celery stalks. The staff were all over it like flies to the honey. A serious treat before we flew the coop!

Imagine waking up each morning and dozing off each night in your hotel with the intoxicating smell of buffalo wing grease. Sounds a bit like heaven doesn't it? Well, like Belinda Carlisle once sang, "Heaven is a place on Earth". Wait Dave, what's this hotel stuff? I thought Double Decker was a restaurant? That's right, you are correct. It is a restaurant AND it's attached to the Day's Inn. The two worlds of gourmet bar-food and budget-travel comfort collide for all those lucky tourists.

OK, so on to the food. Wednesday night is all-you-can-eat wing night for $11.95. You can't beat that! Beer drafts are pretty reasonable too at $3 a pint. I had to stick with the "hot" wings, because after one "inferno" wing I wanted to cut out my tongue and stomp on it to put out the fire! Even though the wings were not the best I've had (they are a little small), overall they are very good, crispy and tasty! In this case, who cares about wing size when it's all you can eat, right?!

The place is very clean, which was a pleasant surprise. The staff there is very friendly and is always trying to help you eat your money's worth by offering up more baskets of wings. Check out the waving cat behind the counter. His paw continually wants to stuff more wings down your throat. I love that cat.

After all your gluteny, take some psyllium husk (http://www.healthcastl...) and you'll be good as new for next Wednesday!!

DOUBLE DECKER!!!! :). We are constantly looking for the best place to eat... for CHICKEN WINGS. Then, we came across Double Decker. From the outside, it looks like a small restaurant. It totally threw us off that it was attached to 'Days Inn'.. "hmmmm!!!??" The first time we went, we weren't quite sure what to order.... I mean... why, chicken wings.. of course! We ordered a buffalo dozen of half mild and half hot, along with side orders of chips and garlic fries....

MILD & HOT: These wings are deliciously perfect. They separate them by little red baskets.. They are CRISPY and tastes just right. Mild was perfectly mild, hot was perfectly hot.. and not too hot... because if you want too hot, there is INFERNO (but that's another story...)

CHIPS: Let these chips cool down for a bit, and they are sooo sooo crispy. I've never really had chips that are made like that, except for  chips we buy at a store :). Double Decker chips over Lay's Chips any day!

GARLIC FRIES: I don't know if it was a bad experience overall for these fries, or I just came in the wrong day for them (meaning the guy made it bad =( ). They weren't too garlic-y, but they were sort of burnt. You can't really taste this at all... it's just 'okay'.

What I love though, is that they give you a basket of celery and ranch to cool down while having those deeeelicious wings!!

....then day 2 (a week later..)
We went back with some friends to have more wings, and this time we tried the INFERNO along with the mild & hot. We order a whole bucket (50).. except we only ordered 4 inferno.. (we weren't sure if we could handle it yet!). Inferno... it really takes your taste bud out for a ride. First bite - sourrrrr.......... 2nd bite - comes the hot hot hot hot hotness... then give it a few seconds... OOMMMGGGGG! ITS GOOD, if you can take it... but its not something we could order a whole dozen of!! We have had hotter wings, but these really are hot!!!!!

So anyways.... we really enjoy Double Decker. Parking is easy, based on both experience.. we parked at Day's Inn the first time, and didn't know we couldn't.. but we easily got away with it anyway :). The price is GREAT.. and from my memory.. I think Monday-Friday from 3-6 is HAPPY HOUR.. which you get a whole buffalo dozen, sides, or tap beer for HALF off!!!!! WHAT A DEAL! Then I forgot which day, but there is a day where it's all you can eat wings for about $11 a person. We will definitely come back to Double Decker!!!!

***Next time, we will definitely try the burgers! I see some reviews raving about their sandwiches/burgers. Will update this as soon as we go back!!!

March Madness turned to April Sadness, no only did I lose in my pool I lost another personal bet,  stakes being dinner at Double Decker, for Weds Wing night. Do I eat wings?  Not so much...  But this wasn't my prize, if I won I was going to Arby's.

April Sadness however turned to April Satisfaction, yes I paid the $20 something dollar bill but very much enjoyed sitting downstairs (upstairs was full!), watching all the business activity as well as the Celtics game and eating my Cali chicken sandwich. The owner and staff were very attentive, the wings were flowing , the inferno was too hot for my hot date, it was quite the show watching him cope with the inferno heat, so you might just stick w/ the 'hot'.  The beers are very reasonably priced, a little over $3 for a pint.  The kitchen is small but they crank out lots of good stuff!  Happy hour deals look great M-F, 3-6pm ,  1/2 price beers and sides and some wing deals.

My old wing place shut down, and I have been looking for a worthy substitute, and Double Decker came through for me! One minute I was checking out the menu on line, the next the dude was at my door!! Teriyaki Burger was yummy and the onion rings were still HOT...I know.... I can't stand it either, maybe it was a good day, but it was a great delivery experience for me. Oh yeah the wings kicked ass too...blue cheese and all..

The best burger in Hayes Velley; the worst music in the world. Almost 5 stars, and the garlic fries are excellent, too... but just so you know, there IS a camera on the second floor in case you and the other patrons are conspiring to mute KOIT. "Lite Rawk, Less Talk!" Kee-rhist. That's a 1-starrer. I comprimise on account of the fact that I understand some people might like hearing the early nineties hit "Beauty and the Beast" by Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson while trying to digest.

Eat good burger plug ear-holes.

tom and dot serve the wildest wings this side of the mississippi.  i only tried mild, being the wussy-shit i am.  next time i pop in, i'm gonna man up and get mine Inferno-style and i WILL go crazy cuz that's just the way it is.  if only you could see my face when the inferno sauce hits the tip of my tongue and sizzles on its way down my esophagus...

Hm, I'm on a bad streak, my third two-star rating in a row - hopefully my luck will be changing soon!

Anyhow, I had read and heard good things about the burgers here but really can't give them more stars since the burger I had - while it was Niman Ranch - didn't have that flavor to it that most Niman Ranch beef I've had has.  The burger was a bit small but then I didn't go for the double decker - perhaps that was my problem?!

Well I also ordered a side of onion rings which ended up being like six onion rings which seems a bit weak for $2.45 extra.

Anyhow, I remember when this place was Midori Mushi and hadn't been there since.  I do like the upstairs and the bathroom was incredibly clean!

After my last non-homemade burger experience, at Joe's Cable Car (two stars) I was pretty hesitant about ever bothering to pay for someone else to make me a burger ever again. But I was out and about, hungry, and wanted some nice red meat, and the boyfriend recommended this place.

To get them out of the way, the negatives: Double Decker is attached to a Day's Inn. Literally. Yet the parking is for HOTEL GUESTS ONLY. Fuck you, Day's Inn. And when I went in there they had a basketball game turned up super loud on the TV. I guess some people'd like that, but I freakin' hate sports. And loud TVs in restaurants.

BUT HOLY CHRIST, THAT WAS THE TASTIEST BURGER I'VE EVER HAD. I am so not kidding you. I was totally blown away. Totally worth the money. I got a barbeque bacon cheeseburger and the bacon was perfectly cooked (not too chewy, not too crispy) and there was exactly the right amount of sauce on it, so that I could still taste it but it wasn't dripping on my nice clothes. The fries were super yummy, and the chocolate shake (which was more like a shake/freeze hybrid--if you don't like to be aware there's ice in your shake, you might not like theirs) really hit the spot. The guys that work there are really friendly too.

I'll totally be back for more take-out, but I don't really plan on ever eating inside.

I can't believe I'm saying this but this is exactly what the HV needed! While I still miss the adorable Zoya, Double Decker is an eatery for the common man.

You order at the counter and come away with a fat and juicy burger, fresh toppings and a side of fries that will leave you satisfied and satiated. It's called Double Decker I reckon for the two floors you can sit on, but what do I know?

So I love a good burger as much as the next Zambia born Sri Lankan U.S. citizen, but what I absolutely cannot wait to return to DD for is their all-you-can-eat Wing Wednesday. Lipitor be damned, I'm hittin' it!

Allllright boys, get out your thank you cards and start writing because you will be sending me lots of thank yous and love after reading what I have to say.

Say you meet a girl and oh what a fine girl she is! You like her, I mean you are seeing your future (or at least a week) together and are just totally into it (you'd do her). Soon that fateful day comes when you actually get to spend an evening with her. She's said YES! to your date request and is all ready to spend some quality time with you and you are super stoked. But now the question is...where do you take her?

Do you try and wine and dine her at Absinthe? Do you attempt to dazzle her drunkardly senses at Bourbon & Branch? Do you order the finest steak known to man at Epic? Hell no! You take that broad to Double Decker and find out if she's the real deal or not.

Reality is this. Many girls have the notorious reputations of being "high maintenance." Hell, even my Dad has accused me of this from time to time after listening to me snoot on about wine tastes, but a real woman (self included) will be just as happy with a bucket of hot wings and a Heffevizen as she will be with a fine bottle of wine and a juicy steak. 'Tis the truth boys, so why not save yourself the wallet drainage and take her here!

Now you may be thinking, "But Stephy, it's in a Days Inn for Christ's sake, and that might make her think that I have other things in mind" (hellooo, talk about bonus if she goes for that too, amigo!), but once she sees that you are taking her to not a one, but a two story restaurant with a view, c'mon, she'd be an idiot not to fall in love (or bed) with you. As a super duper bonus, Wednesdays offer all-you-can-eat hot wings for $11.99 from 6-8pm! Can you say win win!!! I can :)

Reality is this. Most women (and just about EVERY woman I know) like to eat. And if she doesn't, then you probably have a chick with issues on your hands. So take her out, feed her and don't go over the top too soon. You will only be setting expectations and who needs that. It's about the time spent together and nothing adds a happy bonus to that like a bucket of wings.

Just sayin'

Oh and they deliver, but you don't get the killer second floor view of the parking lot and Grove if ya do that ;)

I wanted to love this place.  A burgers and hot wings place attached to the Days Inn in Hayes Valley, where you place your order for various artery-clogging cravings downstairs and go upstairs to find a table in the little room with 240 degrees of windows?

But I must say, they could have done a few things righter to win that 4 or even 5 star review in my book.

1. We got our Caesar salad in a plastic takeout box with a little plastic container of out-of-the-bottle watery dressing.  Maybe just maybe we shouldn't have expected a good salad from a burgers and hot wings joint, but I could have used a real plate.  And creamier dressing.  And a few shavings of parmesan.

2. Silverware.  Even at diners we get to eat with real silverware, instead of plastic forks.

3. Something aside from KOIT over the speakers.  I mean, sometimes I do want to eat hot wings to Love Songs with Delilah.  But most of the time, I don't.

4. Too much sauce on them wings.  A smidgeon less will do, and get them a little more crispy in the deep fryer.

Still, I will likely be back.  The burgers looked pretty tasty.  And you betcha I will be ordering a bucket of 50 hot wings at some point for delivery for some random party.  Did I mention they deliver?

Dude...this place is good!

You know those days where the sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and all you wanna do for lunch is share a fuckin' great cheeseburger and some fuckin' great fries with your baby?

Well, today was one of those days.

And Double Decker? Totally came through.

We parked on the street. Ordered the California Burger and the Original Cheese...paired those with a large order of fries...and ten minutes later...we were in heaven. We sat upstairs, watched the Torch Procession craziness on the flat screen in the corner...and laughed about how glad we were that we decided NOT to head down to the Embarcadero, instead choosing to spend our afternoon eatin' great food in a little two-story burger joint overlooking Hayes Valley.

It's only been 9 hours since lunch and I'm already itchin' to go back.

Came here again on Friday and had the buffalo wings, onion rings and milkshake. Still the best buffalo wings I've had in SF so far, their hot was just perfect for me. I can't believe I ate a dozen this time. ;) And the chocolate shake was just as good as the strawberry one I had last time. Next thing to try on the menu is the CA chicken.

Till we meet again!

We were all talking about wings the other day, and someone mentioned Double Decker.  So, naturally, I had to go on over and check them out.

Doubler Decker replaced Zoya's and takes over that very funny space in the Days Inn.  The service is pretty basic at DD -- order downstairs, walk outside and up the stairs and hang out in the dining room.  The nice folks who work at DD will bring you your food when it is ready.

Since this was my first time I ordered a small batch of inferno wings, and a basic burger & fries.  The Burger and Fries were decent.  DD's burger patty is a pretty basic neiman beef patty.  The fixings on the burger were basic: lettuce, tomato, onion.  The patty felt a bit dwarfed by the bun and fixings.  The fries were okay too -- even a little bit crunchy, which I like.

Something was a bit amok with their ketchup -- perhaps it is hunt's intead of heinz?  Putting it on my fries I had one of those "this is not the usual ketchup moments."  I actually started dipping my fries in the wing dressing...

And speaking of the wings -- I ordered them "inferno" style.  Now, I am *not* the person to ask about levels of spiciness.  My brother says when people ask me that sort of question there should be a sign under my face that says: "Professional Driver.  Closed Course.  Do Not Attempt."  So, when I say that the wings were pleasantly spicy, you can calibrate that remark for yourself. ;-)

The wings are your basic traditional buffalo-style preparation.  Butter & Crystal sauce.  I believe that the "inferno" variation adds several shakes of cayanne pepper to the mix.  This makes for a nice spicy-on- the-tongue-as-well-as-the-back-of-the-throat feeling.  The wings come with celery and nice thick blue cheese dressing for dipping.

If you need plenty of wings to make you happy, they have all you can eat wing nite on Wednesday.

I'm glad there's another option for a tasty inexpensive lunch in Hayes Valley.

Great place, especially with all the expensive options in Hayes Valley.  The burger I had was very good and the fires were excellent.  The have an AWESOME Happy Hour.  1/2 off all sides, buffalo wing dozen, and tap beers!  That means $1.50 beers from 3-6 m-f !!!

A decent spot, nothing too memorable. The chicken sandwich was hearty, and you could tell they put a lot of effort into making sure it was grilled just right. But I found the prices a little steep considering they didn't come with any sides, and the menu lacked other healthier options like a turkey burger. They did offer veggie, but it was your standard Gardenburger, nothing homemade.

I give this pace 5stars cos I went there for spicy wings.  Obviously I ordered the inferno wings to satisfy the craving, and got more than  bargained for :D

The guy I place the order with did come back after the order was placed to pass on the warning from the kitchen, but that was'nt gonna get in the way of what I was there for.

If SPICY is what you want, Double Decker has a solution for you (trust me)!

my friend is on a quest to find the best buffalo wings that are to her liking. so, we head to double decker. it was pretty much a weird experience. first, i had to get my mind around the fact that it was at a motor inn. secondly, the storefront reminded me of a roadside diner. in the middle of hayes valley. once i got past those oddities, it's time to order.

we get an order hot buff wings, fries and caesar salad. the guy behind the counter takes our order and proceeds to prepare some wings to fry. we sit down and as the dude is frying the wings, the small storefront gets hazy from the oily steam. a girls walks in (i'm thinking she's a customer) and suggests we go upstairs to escape the grease fog. and she offers to bring up our food. aha, she works here.

we head upstairs through the motel's stairwell into this small seating area. the girl brings up part one of our order (wings and fries). minutes later, our caesar salad appears. the flavor of the wings were good; tangy with some after burn. wings, not drummettes. fries were nothing special. caesar salad was regretful.

this is the kind of place where ordering out might be your best bet.

two and a half stars.

After reading other's yelp reviews, I had to give DD a try. I mean, affordable food in the theatre district?!?!  you mean i can afford dinner and a show?!?  sure, i'm game!

Here's what we got, cheese burger, cali burger, chips and 1/2 doz buffalo wings (mild, cuz i'm too chicken shit to get hot/inferno).

OMG!!! the chips, you MUST try the chips.  perfectly fried, none of that oily burnt crap you usually get at other places.  these are crisp, extrememly crunchy, potato-y goodness.  its a great vehicle to sop up all that leftover buffalo wings sauce too.  yummers!!!

the burgers were both juicy and delicious.  The patty was cooked just the way I like it, it was moist and the beef was just so tender.  I mean seriously, if you've read my other posts, i usually don't give such praise unless it was *that* good.  and it was, cuz all that was left was a few pieces of paper lining, the bf even licked off the rest of the wings sauce. damn, for the low low price of $6.95 in a neighborhood where just walking into all that gourmet-ness can clean out your wallet, its an incredible deal.

I'll be back for happy hour with my friends and the half price Buffalo dozen.  Yeah, I'm a sucker for good cheap food...LOL  =)

Hrm, maybe it's the great contrast between DD and Zoya, but I finished my burger full, but disappointed.  It was nothing special.  The fries were fresh (think Nathan's style crunch but cut more traditionally) but there wasn't anything that stood out about the burger.  Next time, I'll go to Flipper's.  That place dresses quality beef up nicely.

This space didn't work with the high end foodie crowd, it just didn't get enough attention.  I loved Zoya's, the restaurant before Double Decker, but it was so hidden and quiet.  Not only does DoubleDecker market their restaurant well, with brighter lights, clean minimal spaces, and special deals, their food is 100 times better than Flipper's.  The quality of their food was high for a burger place.  Everything felt clean and generous.  Toppings are basic, menu is basic, but it tastes GOOD.  I paid almost twice as much at Flipper's for a mediocre or crappy burger, lacking any toppings.  With Double Decker, I feel loved.

I can't wait to come back for all you can eat buffalo wing wednesdays.  Are you kidding me?  This is amazing to me.  Plus they have happy hour beers.

Please support them, I hate seeing this space jinxed eternally as bad luck for small biz owners.  They deserve more credit than anyone I've seen at this spot.  Flipper's is gross.  Check out Mark L's review below about their cockroaches!  Then read mine.

Good burger. Really weird location. I went upstairs to eat and came back downstairs because it was so eerily quiet.

I like it hot and spicy!!  Get your mind out of the gutter, I'm talking about buffalo wings!  For those who like their wings HOT, you need to brave their inferno buffalo wings..it's got a real kick to it!  Hot crispy wings drenched in their house made super spicy buffalo wing sauce. YUMMY! Their signature burger, the double decker is good as well; they use all natural beef by Niman Ranch which is another plus.  I had the double decker without cheese, but added bacon..mmm!!   Two succulent patties topped with bacon, lettuce, and tomato on a fluffy, lightly toasted kaiser bun.  Are you drooling yet?!  Their thick cut fries are fried when ordered, so they come out hot and crispy!   I prefer this place over Flipper's, the food is way better and the owners are really nice and friendly!

New burger joint just half a block from my place of business-
I ordered their Western Burger & some (homemade) chips- the chips were pretty good, considering it's really the first time I've ever found  a place that make their own, rather than relying on the fat-filled Frito-Lay monopoly- They are getting better at making these as days go by, and the hot sauce that comes on your wings makes a nice dip for the chips as well.
The burger itself was a tad smaller than the burgers round the corner at Flippers, but as the last time I went to Flippers is gonna be the last time I EVER eat there (thanks to the 2 cockroaches in my breakfast platter!)- this place actually beats out Flippers for Price. What sells at Flipper for 10 bucks you can get here for 6. And I think they actually  do a better job of grilling the meat, tho the burger is not quite so thick and wide as Flipper's, &  there's no acoutrement of salad on your plate- but - (big but)for no frills, this was not bad. The burger had all that (ALL the fixings) on it. And no roaches either!
The salads are good but they ought to give you a larger container of dressing- somehow there's just not enough to really get the greens all wet, since they load it up with a good healthy dose of them...
Their real problem is space. Not a lot of it considering the amount of business they are getting at the lunch hour, which means a longer wait if you are upstairs, perhaps, but then it's interesting eating there- just a little cramped I would say.
The hot wings are pretty god, and since I like hot wings that'll make you sweat, these really did the trick. I can only imagine what "inferno" wings will do for you...

midori mushi and zoya were great places, but they probably were delusional in thinking that a high end restaurant would survive in this location. attached to the days inn, this space needed to be occupied by an amazing taqueria or a good old fashioned burger and wings joint. double decker is the latter. the guys that run the place are really friendly and the food is great too. had the inferno buffalo wings last night and they live up to their name. garlic fries are boss too. recommended.

all you can eat wings on wednesday night for $11.95. i could end it there, but i'll go on. $3 draft premium beers. 1/2 off a buffalo dozen and beers between 3 and 6. which means i can eat 13 wings and have 3 beers for under $10!? in hayes valley!? i haven't had the burgers, but they looked good. niman ranch beef too. if you get the wings with their inferno sauce be sure not to have shaved earlier in the day or your face will feel great pain. these are seriously hot wings. i was dripping sweat, my nose was running, and all i could do was eat them faster and faster. like the coug says, "hurt so good".
