This was the first of the Financial District yogurt stops. I enjoy many a work break at this mecca of yogurt. I would probably call this a yogurt warehouse. It is self serve. You get a giant cup, choose from a wide variety of flavors that you pump yourself, scoop some toppings, weigh it, and voila, a tasty snack! I would recommend the peanut butter flavor.
The yogurt here is mostly on the sweet side, but it is good. I like being able to portion my own toppings. Note, your eyes can easily be bigger than your stomach. The giant cup is deceptively small. A good bang for your buck when it comes to yogurt, especially if you are a topping hound.

I'm loving FRO-YO!!! :) I always pay a visit whenever i come to downtown~ Self service is good~ u get to mix and match.. But I always stick to the original one~ I like it sour, i dun like it sweet. Bluberry and peach are good too, they are my favorites! and I dun put too much topping~ well, I prefer it simply fro-yo, hehe :)
Coming from someone who is not a huge fan of froyo, this place should be a must-try.
I like helping myself and I like variety - two things you get at Iceebee. Choose from a multitude of frozen yogurt flavors that aren't too tart for me. Then choose from countless toppings. Since everything is priced by weight, you can mix and match any yogurt, topping and syrup they have. Great for indecisive and variety-obsessed people like me!
Now here's the best part: My franken-yogurt concoction weighed in and amounted to just over $4. I was convinced I was going to have to pay much more than that for as much junk that I put in there.

I'm coming to terms with the fact that I am often behind the curve.
I found out about You Tube like two months ago, just started even considering paying bills on line, AND still have never seen an episode of The Wire.
For better or worse, I'm often in my own amusement park, first in line for my own rides.
OR, as a client of mine likes to say, "I'm a horse of a different color."
How does this relate to fro yo?
Until the other day, I wasn't exactly sure what it was. I had seen people write about it on Yelp, talk about it on campus, smell it wafting onto the streets, read about it in foodie magazines, but I had not really experienced it until deciding that it was time.
Swamped by the sheer number to choose from, I originally planned to go to So Green because I like green tea and tropical fruit. As I was walking there I had an agoraphobic meltdown on Fourth Street because it was Oracle time, so I sought refuge in Ice bee. Not Bad, God. Not Bad.
Once I got in, Fate was in my own hands, pulling levers and spooning kiwis and cereal into my bowl. I didn't know it would be so hands on! It was like going to the interactive days at museums. You know, the ones planned for kids but you see more adults there? Or is that just me...?
Back to the yo, it was delicious. And only $3.57 despite piling on the fruit.
I'll be back to try the other flavors...I'll be that horse of another color marching to my self-selected beat of my own drum. Perhaps it will be your beat too?

I'm a big fan of froyo. This self serve frozen yogurt shop is cool but not my favorite. They offer a lot more flavors than more froyo places do and you can sample as much as you like before buying. I have had the tart, peach tart and chocolate. I'm a big fan of the tart but not from here. It let a chlorine taste in my mouth. Now if I go here I always get the chocolate which is really good. I also don't get toppings. The topping are self serve too but i didn't really like that part. I don't get toppings here. I don't like the feeling of not knowing if someone before me stuck their hand in a bucket. Besides that they're pretty cheap and fast. I'll come back but that's only if there isn't another place close by.
It may be a good thing for people who have self control that the frozen yogurt/toppings here is weighed... so you pay for how heavy your cup is.
Then there are people like me with no self-control who ended up getting a $7.30 cup because I am a voracious eater, but really my eyes are always bigger than my appetite. The mango and peach non-fat frozen yogurt flavors were good, but I couldn't handle mats.too.mats of it.
The yogurt and toppings are pretty standard. After having it, I wasn't floored as I was during my experience eating frozen yogurt at Pinkberry in LA. I ate it because I just wanted something tart and fruity to shove in my mouth and make me feel better after eating a mediocre 2-item combo dinner at Sorabol in the Westfield food court.

Not what I wanted :(. This was my first SF froyo visit and I was excited to finally try one here but I was disappointed. It was partly my fault b/c I wanted to try various flavors and ended up with a sloshy mix that always had a hint of cappuccino with every bite...if there's a next time, I would just stick to the original and to the fruit toppings. The yogurt itself didn't have the tartness and fresh yogurt taste that I look for at these types of shops. The pay by the weight didn't work out in my favor either at $6.
After trying so many frozen yogart places in SOMA area I think I've finally found my favorite one!! This place has so many different yogart flavors/toppings you can choose and it's all self serve! It's great to mix up your cup with different flavors! The price is decent and I will be back for my yogart soon!
Why I am upgrading to FIVE WHOLE STARS:
1. Ever since my first time here - I've tried various other places. All that ends up doing is making me miss Icebee. In a bad way. Like, I want to toss this cup of new Fro-Yo in the trash, put on my Nikes and run to Icebee.
2. I think about a large cup of Icebee, DAY AND NIGHT. Between Icebee and Shabu House, I am running out of places to Yelp because I'm not eating anywhere new. I've concluded they put a little pinch of crack in every 2 lbs of Yogurt - - just to drive me insane - just like they sprinkle my meat with heroine at Shabu House to put me in a comatose state after eating, and have me aching for more the day after.
3. Rule #8 in Grace's book is very clear: Grace does NOT eat alone. PERIOD. I'll starve to death before I eat alone in public, I can't do it. It's one of my 3 or 4 weaknesses. The other day, I drove into the parking lot, paid $3 for parking and grabbed a cup, poured everything into it, weighed it, gasped at the $5.83 cents and then proceeded to DEVOUR my cup of madness.
BY MYSELF.
And not once did I look around, self-consciously, to see if anyone was looking at me while I devoured that yogurt like I needed a fix.
3. Speaking of cost, you know something is good when the cost of each visit becomes progressively more expensive. This last time, I took it easy, but once, I went to $7 and some loose change here. That's DOUBLE what I paid when I first tried Icebee. Factor in parking, and I'm tellin' you - - I ate over $10 worth of Fro-Yo in one sitting.
4. They close at 10 pm.
And my whole LIFE revolves around 10 pm now. Eating dinner at 8 pm? I begin to calculate how quickly I can finish to make it to Icebee before closing. On your way to a bar at 9:30 PM? I look on my GPS to figure out if I have time to stop by Icebee on my way to the bar. My friends can wait, right? (I have walked in with a big cup of Icebee..... to a bar. Drinks can wait, too.)
5. I found the magic formula:
One swirl of Original
One and half swirls of French Vanilla
One swirl of Cappuccino
Add in fresh strawberries, Captain Crunch (lots of it, doesn't weigh much AND makes this amazing), and basically take the canister of mochi and dump it into your cup.
Weigh.
Pay.
Grab a spoon.
Eat.
Moan.
And that, folks, is how and why Icebee has registered itself as 5 stars in my book.
It's SO inconvenient to drive here, and I hate having to pay for parking, but you won't see that stopping me anytime soon.
$10 cup of Fro-Yo..... crack, I tell ya.

Went here last week while visiting with a friend and felt like trying some fro yo nearby. This was the only place down near the mall so I decided to try it. It was self serve, and had a usual toppings and flavors. I thought it was just OK, nothing too special and didn't like that it was a bit more on the icy side. I like my creamier.
Another self-serve, pay as you go FroYo joint! LOVE IT! I was pretty amazed by this place. It's nice & CLEAN for one, they have twelve different flavors to choose from and is in a pretty good location - I think! Who wouldn't want to stop for froyo after shopping, catching a flick @ The Metreon OR a massage from Bliss down the street?! ; )
I enjoyed the original tart and banana flavored froyos topped with my usual - mochi and Cap'n Crunch (and this time, gummy bears & chocolate sprinkles). The tart wasn't *too* tart which I like and the banana yogurt tasted just like banana flavored Laffy Taffy (my fave!).
I didn't catch how much the price per ounce was, but I'm sure it was pretty decent! For both my SIL & I, the total came up to less than $8.00 and we both filled our cups with yummy froyo & lotsa toppings!
Considering the price that I paid [less than $5], that I was able to try out two different flavors [Cable Car Chocolate and Original], and that I could load up on multiple toppings [Strawberry bits, Mango bits, and Mochi!], I will gladly say that Icebee is one of the winners in the Frogurt Wars.
Icebee teaches discipline and self-control. To become greedy or to let the hand get out of control is to fail miserably. The machines are all self-serve. You pick up a cup [they only provide one size] and essentially you can run wild with it. Once you've figured out the flavor or combination of flavors you want in your cup, you've got toppings to choose from - lots of them.
On my visit, I was accompanied by two Icebee experts [two Yelployees who hesitated to admit that the only reason Yelp moved offices was to be in the middle of the Frogurt Madness]. They warned me in advance to load up on the toppings and not so much on the frogurt. Excellent advice.
This is the perfect spot to bring the indecisive who just want to fill their cup with a little bit of everything. This is great for bringing friends as well since there's probably a flavor or combination of flavors for everyone.
Yay! I'm a fan.

DANGER DANGER. I work around the corner from this place and have been here twice already this week during my breaks. why did my coworker tell me about this place!?? sigh, I love Icebee, I love making my own dessert and being able to add whatever toppings my little heart desires.
The cookies and cream and cappuccino flavors are good, and the blueberry is good too with some nice tartness to it. This place is definitely ruining my diet though. damn it.

Considering that this was my first fro-yo experience (as opposed to Frozen Yogurt, the original craze a la Penguin's) I have no real complaints.
I've walked by these places before, usually passing by because it's rare that I actually crave sweets (unless it's in alcoholic form), but I've been curious for some time and found myself wandering by here.
The clincher was the pricing - they sell by the ounce. $0.43 per ounce to be exact. Since most places I see usually sell their absolute smallest for $3ish, I was happy that I could just get a teeny tiny bit for hopefully $2 or even less.
Naturally I walked out with a relatively large portion of blueberry and original swirl with three toppings, all for the low low price of $3.81. :|
It was worth it though, even if I did have to get to a food place even quicker than I previously thought because of the sugar levels, and next time I'll be more careful. I guess I'm a now fro-yo convert (even if I find the name a little bit stupid).

Ah the joys of self serve fro yo--the perfect combination when it's a blindingly hot day and you are with one individual who wants tart refreshing fro yo and another who wants sweet things covered in chocolate. It's really a treat in that respect when one is not limited to a choice of one or three fresh fruit toppings.
I made my little fro yo sundae first with a layer of the blueberry and original swirl and with a layer of the peach mango swirled. Covered it afterward with strawberries, kiwi, blueberries, mango and mochi balls. The mochi was soft and delicious and the fro yo flavors were just right. The cappuccino flavor was especially good (sampled it but found it too sweet for that moment) and everything went well together.
I was only irked by the fact that the fro yo melted into soup quite quickly before we managed to get to the yuerba buena gardens and eat it there. It was delicious yogurt soup, but I'd rather it keep it's shape a bit longer.
Also don't appreciate being tricked by the giant single sized cup, but i've grown to expect that now at most frogurt places and assume that I will spend at least $4.00 for a cup of yogurt when I self serve.

Delicious fro-yo; I love the assortment of flavors- cookies n' cream and peanut butter, yes please! The topping selection could be better, but is quite decent; love the cookie dough and huge chunks of reeses! Overall, yummy fro-yo. And, it's conveniently located right across from Bloomies. How dangerous for me!

I have walked by this place at least 20 times in the last year and thought "wow, what a novel concept" but never had the time or mood to try it. Then this week I was at a convention at Moscone Ctr around the corner and stopped by on my way back to the car. One swirl of french vanilla, one swirl of tart blueberry, and some chocolate sprinkles on top, and I was in HEAVEN! yum. The yogurt tastes just right - not too tart, and not too sweet. and the topping bar has all the good stuff. Plus, I LOVE the self-serve concept b/c I can order just enough without wasting yogurt. Icebee, I will be back!
Delicious, simple and dangerously close to my office.
It has a fun atmosphere (even if you grab your froyo to go) and yummy treats. A bit dangerous, calorie-wise; for better or worse it's totally self-serve and you can help yourself to whatever flavors & toppings you want. If you exercise self-control it can be a perfect treat.
They have like 12 flavors and tons of toppings. My fav is the 'original' or 'tart' flavor with chocolate sauce!
Standard froyo, not too much out of the ordinary. Which is still good, haha.
For some reason, the location (right next to a parking lot) and ambiance (usually very few people) makes me not want to grab froyo when I walk by. Is it just me? And I thought I ALWAYS say yes to froyo! I can't pin point the reason... this place baffles me.

When I walked in and saw the self serve machines, I was worried. My only self serve experience was at Yogurtland in Cupertino and it was not good. However, I was nicely surprised. The yogurt here was pretty good, very creamy. The mochi was very soft. They charge, 43 cents, an ounce, I think. Be careful because before you know it, your yogurt is going to cost you $10!

I am not a fro-yo expert like Yelper Lolia. After reading her review, I do not feel so bad that I could not differentiate the signature (tart) and the peach (tart) flavor. They are both good and both taste very similar. The sugar free yogurt taste just like vanilla ice cream. Their toppings are fresh. I am happy to find this fro-yo place because it is conveniently located in downtown. Oh, highly recommend the mochi balls. Yummy

I wish there were more fro yo places around SF that sold yogurt by the ounce. Sometimes, I just feel like having a little dessert after lunch and this place helps me curb my craving without getting too much. I had the peanut butter and banana flavors, topped with a bit of mochi. The mochi was soft and just right.
I went around 11:30am on a hot day and there was no line...awesome. The girl at the register was nice. My only complaint is when you first pull the nozzle, watch out...it could be a little runny when first starting it. I will be back to try more flavors for sure!

What a great little place! It's kinda like a gas station but frozen yogurt. You just walk in, get a huge cup and fill it up with one of the 12 flavors they've got on tap. Very cool. Then, at the end of the self serve fro-yo bar, you can put all these toppings, as much as you want! There's fruit, granola, yogurt chips, chocolate chips, gummy bears, you name it. I have to warn you though, don't go overboard with the fro-yo and the toppings. A dessert that should, theoretically, be only a couple bucks may end up costing you like $5!! Damn those oreo cookies, rainbow sprinkles, and strawberries!!
FYI - Blueberries seem like the lightest fruit topping, just so you know!

Yummy!!! The many reviews speak for themselves. I like the blueberry tart/original tart swirled...
I don't share most of my SF inside secrets, but I'll share one for Icebee. Since the location is on Mission, literally right across the street from Bloomies, you may ask yourself, "Self, how can I get some froyo on my way home? It seems like such a hassle."
Answer: Park in 5th and Mission Garage. Immediately insert your ticket in the pay machine (your first 5 min are free, I believe). You then have 15 min to return to your car. RUN QUICKLY TO ICEBEE AND THEN BACK TO YOUR CAR. You'll be in and out in no time. For free!
So that is one of my many San Francisco secrets, but I'm keeping the rest to myself!!

A serve yourself fro-yo place with lots of different flavors of yogurt and a number of different topping, including mochi and fresh fruit. The pricing is based on weight. I found the unflavored yogurt to be the best. The "tart" flavors were really similar to the plain. The non-tart flavors were way too sweet.
Ever been daring? For once, snub the ice cream aisle in Albertsons and try Icebee. To see a row of different flavored frozen yogurt with tasty side toppings was something that you just can't miss in and around the heart of the city. So, I ask that you put your creativity to work for your stomach to savor sweet goodness.
All the different flavors consisted of vanilla, chocolate, non-fat vanilla, strawberry, blueberry, peach and PEANUT BUTTER!?!?(never knew that there can be a peanut butter frozen yogurt...frozen yogurt can go beyond the impossible) Also, one can sample each with these cute, tiny plastic cups to avoid mixing mistakes. Yes, Icebee will give you a chance to create frozen yogurt perfection.
As someone who works for another offerer of frozen yogurt, I can attest to the fact that hardcore fro-yo-ers know exactly how they like their yogurt and are never really satisfied with the way that YOU make it for them. Thus, this place has a great concept going for it: let people make their own damn treat, and everyone will end up a lot happier.
Another good concept is the "pay by the ounce" rule. I honestly could have done without yogurt today, but upon noticing that I could buy as little or much as I wanted, they gained me as a customer. I made my own nice little petite treat (which, by the way, was dwarfed by their ridiculously large cup) with some toppings, which came out to a reasonable $2.50. They should probably keep the pricing how it is; I don't think I would have been willing to pay more than I did for what I received.
I have to blame myself more than IceBee for my topping mistake, but---thanks to my pathetic eyesight that is prematurely slipping away by the day (I'm only 21 for godssakes!)---I mistook finely-chopped nuts for granola. Blegh. I am not a nut fan.
Though a heat-induced absence of wit didn't allow me to realize the flavor-mixing potential here (DUH), I thought their signature plain yogurt flavor was quite tasty; especially so with strawberries on top.
I came here after my date with the "Dark Knight". My first visit to Icebee was a hilarious experience as I poured my own fro-yo treat. (No, I'm not cheating on my wife!)
From the last time I was there, like most new businesses, they were just trying to get it started. Now, after months of being in business, I checked out what is going on or new with Iceebee.
Assumingly they have added some new flavors, I was a comic-book geek transforming into a monkey when I saw the fro-yo place has added an "Island Banana" flavor. I had a small pinch of the unique flavor and that will be the one I'll have. Still at $.43 cent per ounce, I poured a good amount into my 8oz bowl. I added my own creation of toppings and I came out with a purchase of nearly $6.00 worth of the treat.
I enjoyed the treat while driving home. That Banana flavor was so creamy with overpowering taste and flavor of the banana. The treat was satisfying enough to make this "Chinese Ape" happy. I wish that this flavor was available when Yelp held an elite event at 1015 Folsom. Because I would pour that banana (na-na) flavor fro-yo straight into my big mouth.

Self serve frozen yogurt rox sox and this place is no exception.
They have a good mix of tart and sweet choices. I've had both and I think they are all really good.
On the sweet side, I liked banana the most. Cable car chocolate wasn't bad. Cookies and cream and peanut butter were ok.
On the tart side, most things are good. Plain tart and strawberry were pretty darn good.
Toppings...well for tart mochhi balls are great and most of the fruit was good too. On the sweet side nuts, chocolate, and peanut butter cups did the trick.
Prices are reasonable and there never seems to be a crazy line which is surprising since its smack dab in the middle of the city.
Definitely will keep going to this place.
Yelp makes me feel like a total loser sometimes.
After picking up lunch, I happened upon this little frozen yogurt shop a block from my office and thought, "hmm? when did this little place open? frozen yogurt? when did that make a come back?"
So I walked in and was pleasantly surprised to find many appealing flavors of self serve yogurt and sampled a few of the tart flavors. Wow! these are unlike any frozen yogurt flavors I've ever had! So I assembled myself a generous bowl containing a little bit of all the fruit flavors, loaded on some fresh fruit and mochi balls and the whole thing came to just over $3. On top of all that, the cashier was all smiles and very very sweet.
I skipped back to my office and ate my yogurt while my lunch still sat in its bag.
Ohmyfuckinggod!!!! It's so good, I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs like Mary Murphy after she sees a good Latin dance routine. "YOU'RE ON THE HOT TAMALE TRAIN, YOU SEXY FROZEN YOGURT!!!! THAT WAS HOT HOT HOT!!! WOOOO!!!
Excited, I go to share this on Yelp and.... WHAT! 240 reviews??? Who are these people and where the hell have I been? I can actually see this place from my office window and mine is review 241? *sigh*
Oh, so froyo is short for frozen yogurt! (picture a light bulb near my head) I remember seeing this word popping up everywhere on Yelp. I thought it had something to do with a 70's hairdo. And it seems froyo craze has replaced the cupcake craze on Yelp... So will Kristina R. now be the reining froyo commando?
Oh well, unlike the cupcake craze, I'm happy to jump on the froyo bandwagon. Woohoo! FROYO!

this is my fav froyo place in the city. there are another 2 or 3 froyo places closer to my office, and I'd still choose this place over the others. why?
1. SELF SERVE--that means you can get as much or as little as you want. i'm seriously sick of having to pay $4 for a cup of froyo just to find that the middle bit of it is all hollow and empty. this is unfortunately also a huge con--at some point you just lose perspective about HOW MUCH froyo you've actually added to your cup, and next thing you know you're forking out $6 at the cashier
2. VARIETY OF FLAVORS -- so I'm all about the new tarty yogurt craze going on, but for some people they just want some other flavors, right? they have vanilla, cookies and cream, fruity flavors, chocolate, etc. something for everyone.
3. SAMPLE CUPS -- okay, don't tell anybody this. but sometimes all I really want is just a little smidgen of froyo, not a whole cup. so occasionally i go in and just ask the cashier for a sample cup and get a little bit of froyo, and walk out of there without paying a thing. sorta screwed up, i know, but I swear I go back enough as an actual paying customer that I figure there isn't too much bad mojo going around from that.
yay for icebee!

The Cookies n' Cream flavor is to die for... literally. I was coming out of the garage and the crowds were preventing people from leaving. I asked what was going on, and apparently there was a guy running around with the gun.
OK, do I....
1) Hide behind the crowd and wait to see what happens?
2) Bypass the crowd and potentially get shot... all in the name of hunger?
In retrospect, I can't believe I actually pushed past a crowd and shared my sidewalk with some random gunman rather than consider my own safety and possibly wait it out... but that's how hungry I was, and that's how good this yogurt is.

I love this joint! It has the best original tart & mango tart froyo in SF. The flavors and texture are so rich that I almost forgot for a moment there that it was fat free or 99% fat free. The mango is a tad bit on the sweet side, but you can balance it out by mixing in a pump of original tart. I like my froyo all natural so I can't really comment on their toppings. The only thing I can say is that the topping bar looked clean and organized.
I must admit that I went a little crazy on the mango as I pumped out $10.00 worth to bring home. One tends to forget how much pricier it is due to location, location, location. At $0.43/ounce it's definitely a lot pricier than usual.
